Shipping a powder processing machine is the final, decisive step of manufacturing — and the one that is hardest to undo. A machine that machines and welds perfectly can still fail in the field if a dimension is off by a fraction, a motor runs hot under load, or a screen seats poorly and bleds material. PURSYS enforces a strict quality inspection before every machine leaves the factory, because a defect caught at the customer's site costs far more than the same defect caught at ours. This article outlines the inspection process that protects global customers from hidden defects and surprise downtime.

Inspection at PURSYS is not a single end-of-line gate. It is distributed across the whole build so that errors are contained early, when they are cheapest to fix, rather than discovered after the machine is crated and on a container ship. That philosophy shapes how we staff the workshop, how we calibrate instruments, and how we hand over evidence to the customer alongside the equipment.

Manufacturing Challenge

Industrial powder processing equipment is shipped worldwide and often installed in remote plants with limited on-site support and long lead times for spare parts. A defect discovered after commissioning is expensive on every axis: return freight, production downtime, lost output and damaged trust all multiply the original cost many times over. Our challenge is to catch dimensional, functional and performance issues inside the factory, where correction is fast and cheap, rather than at the customer's site where the same fix might halt an entire line. We also have to verify performance against a written specification, not just confirm that the machine powers on.

PURSYS Production Process

Inspection is built into the production flow, not bolted on at the end:

  • Incoming material check – stainless certificates and key dimensions are verified on arrival, before any cutting or welding begins.
  • In-process checks – machined and welded dimensions are measured at each stage against the controlled plan.
  • Final dimensional measurement – critical fits such as chamber bores, rotor run-out and screen seats are gauged against the approved drawing.
  • Operation testing – the machine is run, with or without load as appropriate, to confirm rotation direction, temperature rise and noise levels.
  • Performance verification – sample material is processed and the output particle size is measured to confirm it meets the agreed specification.
  • Pre-shipment review – all records are compiled and reviewed before the machine is released for packing.

Technology Details

We use calibrated measuring instruments — micrometers, calipers, bore gauges and coordinate checks — to confirm tolerances on chambers, rotors and screens, with calibration traced to national standards. Running tests monitor bearing temperature, vibration and motor current draw, which together reveal hidden mechanical issues such as misalignment or imbalance long before they would cause a failure. For size-critical lines we verify output fineness with sieve or laser analysis, so the customer receives a machine proven to hit specification, not merely one that spins when switched on.

Where a machine includes electrical or control systems, we also verify interlocks, rotation logic and safety functions during the test run, because a correctly built mechanical assembly is still unsafe if the controls are wrong.
